Finally…I’m posting about something other than food (didn’t mean to start blog life that way, honestly.)
When I’m not writing, or cooking (or going to the gym to work off said cooking) I like to make cards and scrapbook. I even became a Stampin’ Up demonstrator to fund my obsession hobby and so far, I’m absolutely loving it.
But I digress…I read quite a few stamping-related blogs and they’re always featuring great “cyber challenges” on these sites. Until now I haven’t been able to take part in many of them because most of them require you to have your own blog. One of the few websites that didn’t require you to have a blog was Just Add Ink and I’ve entered a few cards here and here. It’s fun to play along – yes, I am a craft nerd 🙂
This week’s JAI challenge is Just Add Embossing, so today I decided to pull out my heat gun and enter the fray. Now I must admit my mojo seemed to have skipped off down the street for an ice cream sundae for most of the afternoon – I played around with all sorts of ideas but the images in my head were just not translating to the paper.
Eventually, I came up with this card. It’s for a friend who LOVES purple, so I’ve gone with a bit of a monchromatic theme with the SU colours Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant.
The Baroque Motifs set looks so good paired with a whole heap of silver embossing powder (and a bit of hardware to add to the bling). I stamped the swirl onto gloss cardstock and then brayered with EE and PP for a two toned look. I also added the Sanded background on the main card to give it a bit more “texture”.
Once I finished that card off, I made this one too. It features a bit of embossing so we’ll include it:
There’s some dry embossing here, with the Tempting Turqouise background put through the Polka Dot embossing folder on the Big Shot, as well as some “wet” embossing on the butterflies. The ruffled ribbon is totally irrelevant to the challenge, I just like it 🙂 I also like this colour combo of Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red and of course the TT – very vibrant and fresh.
Thanks for yet another great challenge, JAI team!
